Devo – Friends + Family

Today is going to be split up into 2 sections: a friends section and a family section.

FRIENDS

Most of you probably have a really good friend…a BFF. And then you also have some friends that are just…eh, just your friends.

But what are good friends?

– Good friends are people you can count on; people you can trust.

– Good friends are people you can hang out with, laugh with, and cry with.

– Good friends will be there for you – through the good and through the bad.

– Good friends are people who care about you and love you. (Proverbs 17:17 says: A friend loves at all times.)

This list could go on and on. But let’s stop it there! How many friends of yours have ALL of these qualities? I only have a few really good friends (but I still have a LOT of other friends). And that’s all I need! Just a few good friends. And that’s all you need!

For you middle-schoolers, you don’t have to be the most popular at school and have a ton of friends. Plus, having lots of friends = lots of drama.

And for those of you who don’t have lots of friends (or any at all) you have Jesus! He should – and I hope He is – be your best friend! I know for sure that He has all the qualities I listed above!

FAMILY

I bet a good chunk of you all have siblings. I have 2 (3 if you count my dog)! I also have some AMAZING parents…:)

And if you have siblings, I bet you do (or did) fight a lot. There are some times that I need a break from my siblings. But, here’s the truth: You’re stuck with them. So why not get along (or at least try to?). For those of you who plan to get married, your future spouse will be your family. So how you react to your family (siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles) is how you’ll react to your future spouse and your friends. Now you want to be nice to your family members, right?

God placed your family – your brother who won’t stop talking, your sister who won’t stop copying you, your parents who always embarrass you – in your life for a reason. My family has helped me learn many things. My parents are the main reason that I am who I am today. And I owe a lot to them – and I mean a LOT

Question: Like I said above, how many of your friends have all of those qualities? (Answer in the comments!)

Another good devo, Charity! Lots of wisdom and common sense (which is uncommon these days). ♥️U

God has always given me at least one good friend who fills that’s descript, all throughout my life. And the Bible says there’s a Friend who is closer than a brother. So grateful that we have that Friend who walks with us in the Person of the Holy Spirit and in the humanity of Jesus.
