Be You (Tiful) (Devo, R2D3)

Be You (Tiful) (Devo, R2D3)

Just be you….

Easier said then done, right?

Everything these days is about fitting in and being pretty…and ads are telling you to try this drink and you’ll lose weight overnight. Yeah, right.

“I need to act cool so that girl will notice me!”

“Oh, gotta dress nice so that boy thinks I’m pretty!”

OH, PL-EASE!

I’ve never really cared about how I look. I get that other people struggle with that type of stuff, but I don’t understand why people think it matters what other people think. News flash for ya: it doesn’t matter. It only matters what God thinks.

People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1st Samuel 16:7.

Don’t let someone who doesn’t know your value tell you how much you’re worth.

Believe me when I say this: There is beauty in you. You are beautiful. You are a gorgeous work of art, uniquely handcrafted by the one and only God (and there is NOTHING that says otherwise).

Beautiful, breathtaking, colorful sunsets were made by God. And you were made by God too…and you were made even more beautiful (on the inside AND outside).

Some people won’t accept you for who you are, so DON’T waste your time trying to get them to like you. That’d be a big waste of time. You don’t need to be liked by everybody.

It’s important – no, VERY IMPORTANT – to be you. Why would God give you your crazy love for music when you’re just gonna hide it all the time? Why would God give you the smart brain for writing when you’re just gonna agree with your group of friends that writing sucks?

He gave you your talents, passions, skills…He gave it to you to SHOW IT.

Who cares if you love music? That makes you…well, you! And it’s okay – no, PERFECTLY OKAY – to be different.

So don’t hide your love for animals, your epic skills with a basketball, or those awesome calligraphy skills. Those things are what make you YOU. And trust me: YOU are AWESOME.

You don’t need makeup, you don’t need those cool new shoes; all you need to do is BE YOU.

You’re not perfect, but you’re perfectly made.

(Yeah, I came up with that quote myself! I’m pretty smart ;))

Daily Challenge: Look yourself in the mirror (or through the camera on your phone, whichever works), and say this, looking into your beautiful, sparkling eyes: I am chosen by God, I am His masterpiece, I am made perfectly, and NOTHING in the whole universe is going to change that.

Comment Below: Was there ever a time in your life where you felt not pretty, not worthy, or just not good enough? How did you get past that, or how are you getting past it?

I even now struggle with how I look and what people think of me. But I have a great friend and I told her about it and she was really supportive. She encouraged me and helped to lift me up.

Wow! I just saw this blog, for the first time amazingly. And it is so good. It is such an issue not just for young people but every person pretty much, young or old. I know I had my struggles especially as a young person. I’m a lot more confident now but there’s always room for improvement. Thank you for such an insightful word. So proud of my granddaughter!
