“Don’t give up! It’s easy to not give up,” said no one EVER. It’s so easy to give up, and yet so hard to not give up.
The simple meaning of perseverance, according to Google, is: Continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties.
Sounds so simple. Like when you say, “I’m not gonna quit!” then you get to that point and it’s, like, WAAAY harder than you expected.
I don’t know what you may be going through, or what it is today that you need perseverance for, but let me tell you this: The beginning may be hard, but if you persevere all the way to the end, it’ll be SOOO worth it!
My dad runs. He’s run 5 marathons (so far) and a triathlon (if you don’t know what it is, search it up!). How much perseverance do you think it took him to get to that? He trains, trains, trains, and then runs the race. Then does it all over again the next year.
You need perseverance a lot in life. I play sports and, trust me, if you want to be good at it, it’s not easy. You sports people know what I’m talking about.
Maybe you do dance, and there’s this one move that you keep having trouble on, but you still work on it till you have it down perfectly. That takes perseverance.
Maybe you have problems with school. It takes perseverance to study and get problems right!
Or maybe you have problems with things at home (siblings). I know; it’s HARD to have continuous love for sometimes annoying siblings.
Or you might have outward image issues, and it takes perseverance to not say bad things about yourself.
Life doesn’t come easily. We need perseverance. If we don’t have that, you’re not gonna succeed in life or in sports or in pretty much anything. You’ll give something one try and be like, “Nope, I’m bad at this, I’m gonna do something else.”
It’s good to try new things. And, yes, some things might not be your thing. But having perseverance can do a lot to help you in life.
If you have troubles with perseverance, maybe take a look at some of my QUOTES posts. I love quotes that talk about perseverance and not giving up, so I put a lot in there. Maybe they can help inspire you.
Here’s some other stuff that might give you that little push, a little motivation to persevere:
2nd Chronicles 15:7 – But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
Colossians 3:23-24 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the lord Christ you are serving.
Hebrews 12:1-3 – And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Isaiah 40:31 – Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
And, I know this may take time, but when you’re at that point, the point where it gets hard, take a minute, breathe, and ask God to help you. And then tell yourself, “I got this.”
Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Daily Challenge: Take a minute, and think about the things that you use perseverance for. Find them, and work on it!

Something I need perseverance for is …..
Doing all my kitchen chores and not doing them sloppily
Hey, how could you possibly know what it’s like having “sometimes annoying siblings “?? Your siblings are ALWAYS amazing ‼️
Wonderful thoughts and wisdom in your posting today.
Love you!
It occured to me that an important essence of perseverance is LOVE: as displayed for God, for self ( in the sense of self respect), for others, I Corinthians 13:7. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures (or perseveres in) all things… Love never fails.
