Have a holly, jolly Christmas; it’s the best time of the –

Sorry, still in Christmas mode.

Dang, how is it 2022?! Everyone got your New Year resolutions? (Good, I’m gonna have you comment below later!)

One of my New Year resolutions is to read the Bible a whole lot more! (If I’m being honest, I’ve probably only picked up my Bible, like, two times this year.)

I know that I’m not the only one struggling with reading the Bible. So I decided that today, we’ll talk about that.

First off, why is reading the Bible important? For one, you learn more about God. Secondly, you find inspiring Bible verses to memorize and keep in your heart. And third, you grow closer to God.

But the REAL question is, HOW? How do you read the Bible when you have such a busy schedule? It’s the main point of this post: HTMBRFIYDE (How To Make Bible Reading Fit Into Your Day, Everyday).

As most of you know, I play softball and basketball, and it takes up a whole lot of time – games, team practices, and practicing on my own. On top of that I have school (thankfully it doesn’t take me long though), youth group, volunteering in the elementary kids area at church, and a bunch of other stuff. And I try to get time with my friends on top of that! Don’t take me wrong; I love all of those things! But it can be hard to find time for important things, like reading your Bible.

I’m sure your life may be something similar. You probably do a sport, go to church, go to school, hangout with friends, and have a lot of other stuff on your plate. I know; it’s tricky to find time to read your Bible.

And it’s not JUST reading your Bible that’s important; it’s also important to pray.

Making time to pray has always been fairly easy for me. Ever since I was young, I’ve always prayed before I go to bed – in hotels, at sleepovers, at home, camping. It’s a routine that I got into and it hard to get out of!

So that’s my first tip. Start making it a routine. Every morning, before you get out of bed, read your Bible. Or, maybe, before you go to bed, read some. I don’t know which works better for you (or if you can do both!); maybe you’ll have to try both and find out which works for you. (I’ll probably be reading in the morning, if anyone wants to join!)

Or maybe it works best for you to read it sometime during the day.

Whatever time works best for you, you need to make it a routine. And you need to make time for it. Well, actually, swap those. First make time for it, THEN make it a routine.

But how do you make time for it? Well, I’m sure there’s an amount of time you spend on your phone or on another screen. Swap some of that time out for reading your Bible!

Maybe you want to be with your pets. No biggie! Grab you Bible, call your pet (or grab your pet), and have them cuddle up right by you (or on you!) – hey, who says dogs can’t read the Bible?

Maybe you hang out with your friends a lot. Take time while you’re together to read the Bible! Everything is more fun with friends.

Basically the main point is to find parts in your day to read your Bible and slowly make it into a routine. Maybe you’ll start off only reading your Bible like once a week. That’s ok. Once you get into a routine of once a week, do twice a week. Then three times. Then four. Hopefully you’ll get into a routine of reading the Bible everyday!

If you’re kind of forgetful, or just get carried away, set reminders on your phone, or ask your family members to remind you. Before you know it, you’ll be reading your Bible daily without thinking about it – just like brushing your teeth!

Daily Challenge: Let’s work on reading the Bible more, together. Maybe I’ll even make a club, and we can read different parts of the Bible together and talk about it!

What a great Devo❣️ And your writing has become so flowing and natural. (I predict a book someday comprised of all your Devo’s ). There are so many “Bible Reading Plans” available (even your church has one!). And the YouVersion Bible app has a ton of plans… for the whole Bible, the New Testament, 7 days a week or 5 days a week… lots of options that fit every schedule. Thanks for the encouragement ❣️❣️

Spot on! Just what God’s been convicting me about. So I did today start my first day of a Bible reading program to get through the Bible this year. It is a 5-day a week program so I figure if I mess one day up or even two in a week I’m still on target. Today was an awesome day reading Genesis 1 and 2, Psalm 19, and Mark chapter 1. I had the time to really linger and meditate which I won’t always have but it was very enriching and a commitment to read that I want to make for this year. We can encourage and keep one another accountable. Thanks for being such a blessing and an encourager.

    Great post !
Three of my new resolutions are…..

    1. Do more chores and be more helpful around the house.

    2. Spend more time and the barn and get better at horse back riding.

    3. Be on my phone, the tv, video games, and electronics less. And spend time with more important things like friends and family ( oh and of course horses )
